I'd be a lot more accepting of "Western society is lacking in platonic touch" style arguments if they didn't so often lead to "I get to touch you as often as I want, and if you get angry, you're just brainwashed because you grew up in the US, so in order to make you like being touched more, I'm going to touch you, and you can't get upset about it because I'm HELPING."

Honestly saying that is incredibly naive. I mean look at Japan, where they don't shake hands when they meet people. (Unless copying Westerners).

And you have European cultures that have lots of platonic touches.

But no matter what country you're in, body autonomy is a thing. No matter how normal a touch is, you have the right to say no.
