Just Some Rambling About The OCs, Don't Mind Me

When there's some sort of minor Weirdness that the Tokyo PD needs a necromancer of at least moderate skill to solve, the local Necromancer's Society sends either Yui or Yasuo to Deal With It because "moral necromancy" is a dying art and if you've got seniority you may as well use it so you don't have to deal with "Cast A Spell On Some Corpse So He Can Tell Us Who Stabbed Him To Death, Round 236."

When Yasuo walks in wearing a windbreaker with a design that looks like an 80's bowling alley vomited all over him, a Death Note T-shirt, a truly impressive collection of magatama beads decorating his neck, and the most chuuni-looking haircut on a guy who looks like he's in his late teens, it Does Not Inspire Confidence.

Especially when the kid sits down next to the corpse and pulls some strangely dusty incense out of his bag and lays it on top of a notebook that honestly just looks like it's one stiff breeze from falling apart, lighting the incense with an old lighter and reciting something from his notebook that honestly sounds like the bastard child of Bad Fake French and Bad Fake Latin.

Especially when the kid goes into a trance, starts levitating, gets into a three-minute-long argument with seemingly the corpse, but also around four other imaginary people and the zombie weasel that apparently just lives in one of the pockets of his eye-searingly 80s windbreaker.

When they meet Yui, though, every negative thought they'd ever had about Yasuo goes flying out the window.

The zombie weasel familiar freak you out? Yui carries around a sapient lump of screaming ectoplasm in her purse.

Yasuo's fire spells for zombie-killing freak you out? Yui just likes to explode zombies, creating a lovely mess of god-knows-what all over the walls.

While Yasuo may be quiet in that way that comes off as defiant or angry, Yui's quiet in that way that makes people wonder what she's thinking about, if she's plotting the best way to kill you and everyone else in this room, or take over the world.

(Actually, she's usually thinking about what she's going to do with this paycheck.)
