I also think "irredeemable" is used to mean two very different things at the same time, conflating them -- both media that only aims to advocate for bad things, and also media that is without artistic merit, ending up with a "this works messages render it wholly without artistic merit" or "the lack of artistic merit means this show has bad messages".
