when you say that sexual assault is exclusively/largely/predominantly caused by some sort of "depraved lust" on the part of the assaulter, you are doing the work of the patriarchy for them.

The research has shown, time and again, that sexual assault is more similar to physical assault than to sex in motivation: that is, it's about power and entitlement rather than attraction.

I don't get why everything we know about abuse goes out the window the moment you append "sexual" to it.

I used to post on the same forum as a dude who was quite open about his rape fetish. Some terrible person posted that he didn’t see why “hambeasts” were marching against rape, since no one would want to rape them. Rape dude explained at length that it’s not about how they look; it’s about how much they beg and plead. It was enlightening and terrifying.

(He was useful, in his way. One time, people were arguing about whether tolerance was important, and he just posted a photo of a concentration camp.)
