another year another fucking anime awards to vote on. here’s what i voted for.

ANIME OF THE YEAR: come on, there’s only one right choice, OS- no i’m sorry CHAINSAW MAN.

BEST CONTINUING SERIES: JUJUTSU KAISEN. i love lushly animated fight scenes and character death sorry not sorry

BEST NEW SERIES: CHAINSAW MAN again

BEST FILM: SUZUME because it’s the only one of these i watched and also it appeals to the preteen “what if i had a hot older boyfriend with long hair” part of me

BEST ORIGINAL ANIME: WITCH FROM MERCURY, had some trouble sticking the landing, but god do i love those mecha lesbians



BEST ANIMATION: uhhhh JUJUTSU KAISEN, again, absolutely amazing fight scenes, sukuna vs. jogo was straight up one of the most impressive pieces of animation i've ever seen

BEST CHARACTER DESIGN: thought about this for a while and decided on OSHI NO KO via good ole process of elimination. jjk/hell’s paradise/demon slayer aren’t doing anything especially remarkable, the animeification of the chainsaw man characters kind of sandpapered their edges in a way i don’t like, and FUCK what tristamp did to wolfwood’s nose

BEST DIRECTOR: SHOTA GOSHOZONO, again shibuya arc was so amazingly directed

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: JUJUTSU KAISEN. i’m going to stop repeating myself

BEST ART DIRECTION: CHAINSAW MAN! i was very skeptical of them pulling off the “12 EDs”, but they managed to pull off twelve unique yet cohesive ending sequences! good for them!

BEST ROMANCE: DID NOT VOTE. i don’t know any of these straight people.

BEST COMEDY: SPY X FAMILY. it is my Duty and Responsibility as a JJBA fan to beg and cry and plead for the urusei yatsura remake not to win.

BEST ACTION: JUJUTSU KAISEN

BEST FANTASY: THE ANCIENT MAGUS’ BRIDE. utterly lush worldbuilding that fits right into the harry-potter shaped hole in my heart i never knew was there.

BEST DRAMA: OSHI NO KO

BEST SLICE OF LIFE: DID NOT VOTE. didn’t watch any of these shows.

BEST MAIN CHARACTER: gonna be voting for HITORI GOTOH even though i did not watch her show. i do have it on good authority (internet friends) that she probably deserves to win this. also, like, she cute.

BEST SUPPORTING CHARACTER: SUGURU GETO. love me a good corruption arc

“MUST PROTECT AT ALL COSTS” CHARACTER: SULETTA MERCURY. i adore this fluffy little precious tomato

BEST ANIME SONG: SUZUME. so perfectly reflects the mood and tone of the work to an extent that none of the other songs do. also i’m fairly certain my mother would disown me if i ever voted against suzume in anything ever (i am partaking in humorous exaggeration)

BEST SCORE: OSHI NO KO. sorry mother but it IS better and has such a great variety of songs please

BEST OP: KICK BACK. amazing song and visuals packed with references, from makima feeding denji the mind-controlling parasite snail to aki summoning kon to eat the camera at the end, a perfect mixture of the violent, the ridiculous, the horny, and the profound, just like chainsaw man itself.

BEST ED: COLOR. tells an adorable little story that’s a microcosm of spy x family itself, great animation and song.

BEST VA PERFORMANCE (JAPANESE): ATSUMI TANEZAKI again

BEST VA PERFORMANCE (ENGLISH): DID NOT VOTE. subs > dubs lol
