This author’s been reading some late-FFN-to-early-Ao3 fics, and while yes, the “get the female love interest out of the way by killing her or making her into a terrible person” was totally A Thing, I think we’re missing out on some of the alternatives that other authors used.
> Pair her up with a male character in canon (any male character, though preferably a non-bishie)
> Pair her up with the other Token Girl (happens more times than you’d expect)
> Actually, she’s completely FINE with the relationship because…
> She’s a good ally (Awww!)
