i know i've complained about this before, but i hate when people go "oh if you ship (m/f ship) and not (m/m or f/f ship that shares characters) then you must be a homo/lesbophobe" because it just assumes that these two ships are exactly identical beyond the genders of the people involved and it just pisses me off- like do you honestly think these dynamics are so interchangeable that the only reason to prefer one ship over the other would be the difference in their genders?

given how much these same people (in my fandoms at least) then turn around and start yelling about the straight girl fujos who just ship any man together only because they're two dudes and don't actually CARE about their characters

You have just summarized my entire experience with modern fandom, lmao. Bonus points if the person claims the ship "doesn't make sense" as a thinly veiled form of homophobia.
