The whole “Vivinos didn’t WANT to include YAOI in Alien Stage but was FORCED TO by her BISEXUAL FUJO GIRLFRIEND” thing is so funny to me because it’s a version of the inability to accept that your favorite creator made something you don’t like so instead you blame the nearest woman/minority for RUINING STAR WARS or whatever, but it’s from a completely different group of people with their own biases and bigotries. Anthropologically fascinating.

I just find the "fujoshi are the REAL fans of any piece of weebshit media you could care to name because they monetarily support the franchise" talking point going around on xitter deeply repellent on like every single level.

Like, yeah, I understand it started out as a lazy clapback against the kind of shonen fan dipshit who likes to go around complaining that shippers aren't REAL fans, but like. I just find the ideology behind this disgusting, because it implicitly seems to be connecting Being A Fan to your willingness to pay for Product, and I just hate it. It's awful, even though I'm the Type of Guy they're defending! Like, I am the Professional Fujoshi who Works Job and like, specifically budgets for Collecting Anime Merch and aspires to make character shrines and itabags some day, and like, I don't think I'm any better of a fan than someone who's never bought a piece of merch or gone to a concept cafe or an exhibition in their life! It's just Something I Do Because I Enjoy Doing It And It Sparks Joy! Fuck you!

I hate that the people who are promoting this lazy clapback are just accepting the logic of the people they're clapping back against, that there's a group of fans who are Better Fans than another group. If no one's hurting anyone, there's no such thing as "better fans" or "worse fans"! Stop implicitly accepting the logic of your enemies!

(also this doesn't matter but i'm an autistic pedant so: all those jpn women monetarily supporting the franchise aren't fujoshi. some of them are yumejoshi.)

Every single time AI discourse rears its head I'm abruptly reminded that most people don't obsessively hyperanalyze their moral systems for any inconsistencies and change their behaviors accordingly. I have to remind myself of this because otherwise I'll legitimately go insane. me @ me "m you stopped eating chicken products because you were convinced by an internet argument you are not average you are not normal LET IT GO"

"representation matters" mfs when they see a sexual assault survivor or a non-passing trans person in media

Rage wojak

i need You People (general you) to realize that sexual assault/harassment isn’t some uniquely depraved horrifying disgusting Thing that you need to be uniquely fucked up to even think about happening but rather just a Bad Thing That Happens To People Sometimes (yes, real people! who exist!) and as such it is not unusual or a perverted indulgence to depict it in fiction or hypothesize about it happening on the edges of canon

While I think a lot of antishipper morality in fandom spaces would have probably wound up the same no matter which ship war was the Inciting Incident, I genuinely believe that there wouldn't be the focus on "family-coded" "pseudo-incest" bonkers bullshit were it not for the attempts to push Broganes to argue that Sheith was incest.

my favorite (sarcastic) thing is when you get people obviously trying to pull in real-world stereotypes to justify why certain fan content is Terrible and Deserves To Be Eliminated Off Of The Face Of The Planet except when the stereotype they're pulling in doesn't...actually exist

“when a trans person tells you that you’re being transphobic, don’t argue with them, just stop doing whatever it is you’re doing.”

with all due respect, some trans people are, in fact, fucking stupid. this is not unique to trans people, every decent-sized group of people will have a subset of ones with terrible ideas, but nonetheless this remains true.

also when people listen to me i would much rather prefer it to be because my ideas are good on their own merits than because of my identity.

the thing about the whole Is Autistic Masking* Unique To Women is that i’m pretty sure my father masks harder than i do.

*and also UUGGGHHHH GOD GOD I HATE THAT WORD. it’s rapidly becoming yet another piece of jargon with a not-immediately obvious meaning, the phrase “faking allistic/nonautistic/neurotypical” obfuscates less about what it is. i may just be being petty because it’s part of the vocabulary of #ActuallyAutistic twitter and i hold a variety of petty personal grudges against them

i genuinely don't think that 90% of like, queer people or women who say shit on the internet have ever had any kind of, like, friendship with a cisgender man, because they say insane shit like "cis men don't experience purity-culture related shaming over their sexualities" or "cis men aren't shamed for having strong interests into adulthood" or "cis men are never told they're anything but a man" because i think the only way you could wind up genuinely believing these ideas is to have never even had a passing friendship with a cishet man

thesis statement: cookie fandom discourse is not inherently stupider or worse or more ridiculous than normal fandom discourse. it simply looks that way because all of the characters being literal actual cookies with names like "pomegranate cookie" rips the mask off to show how much of a farce this whole thing is.

another day, another post about m not getting why people loose their minds at first year/third year ships. like the absolute LARGEST possible age gap here is a 15yo dating an 18yo, which is kind of ehhhh but like not the WORST thing in the world

is it one of those things where fandom culture nowadays is really hyperfocused on ages in a way that’s bonkers to me? like i don’t really think about ages when it comes to characters, i’m like “okay, they’re all, like, teenagers. these ones are vaguely younger teenagers, these ones are vaguely older teenagers, okay moving on” but it seems like people really care about this kind of stuff in a way that makes no sense to me.

tired of having normal controversial enstars fandom opinions i have now acquired one i've never seen anyone have, which is that sneaking references to your rpf otp into card art for a massively popular gacha game is super mega based and therefore that enstars cn artist didn't do anything wrong and i don't get why people are acting super outraged about it

sometimes i look at moronic kink-related takes on tumblr dot com and think. the nature of kink discourse is just that every so often someone invents rolequeer again.

wild how much "just ban Thing I Don't Like from ao3" comes up as a solution for how to deal with Things People Don't Like on ao3 given that its efficacy can be pretty effectively challenged by, say, anyone who ever used fanfiction dot net after 2002

the good news is that i think i found a way to explain the really hardcore t/b dynamics people to people who aren’t that

the bad news is that it involves homestuck quadrants
stardust_rifle: A cartoon-style image of of a fluffy brown cat sitting upright and reading a book, overlayed over a sparkly purple circle. (Default)
the argument that you can't ship a pairing in only one permutation and truly ship (as applied to people with strict t/b dynamic preferences) is wild when applied to literally any of my hyper-specific ship preferences. i can say "oh, i only ship naru<>mika or eichi<3<shu" (at least to someone with some knowledge of homestuck quadrants) and have this still be recognized as a valid way to ship those pairings. i can say "oh i only like x/y when it's unrequited" and have that recognized as a valid way to ship. for christs sake, i only ship eirei in two highly specific contexts (that being the post-post-apocalyptic Omegaverse au where they're in a lavender marriage together and the PMMM crossover where they're ex-magical boy partners who broke apart because of an irreconcilable difference in ideology and now spend all their time trying to kill each other) and precisely none of the reaction i've gotten for that has been "this is fetishizing and you are fetishizing for doing this for christs sake there are pairings where i do sorta have strict t/b preferences, it's just more useful for me to frame them as "if these characters are not doing some kind of strict power exchange 24/7 kink i am not interested" but only when strict "i only ship this if x bottoms" comes into play do people completely loose their goddamn minds

anyone else terrified to make a 3am bitchpost about some kind of fandom-based microaggression that pissed them off out of fear that some deeply deranged Internet Person is going to use it as an excuse to start a harassment campaign against some poor bastard, who yeah, sure, you may have wanted them to shut up and go away so you wouldn't have to see them anymore but you didn't want them to be harassed

or am i a deeply neurotic weirdo?
