people who freak out about mayoi and try to sand him down are missing the point of his character, in my opinion. i think that more idol games should have characters who are allowed to be gross and weird.

i just keep thinking about maps (the jrock fanfiction) over and over again and especially kai's portrayal because i mostly brushed it off like oh, yeah, he's sort of Ambiguously Developmentally Disabled and so he's Pure and Innocent and so i was like yeah yeah yeah, okay, i don't care that much

and then i stumbled across starving dogs always bite- which has an Ambiguously Developmentally Disabled protagonist and he's both A: an actual human being with thoughts in his head and not just something that exists in the vicinity of the protagonists and B: a bitter little cunt who lashes out at his shitty life and the shitty people in it

and I LOVE THAT and it's made me so much more aware of how inadequate and infantilizing kai's portrayal is and i just Have Some Feelings

i might want to reread maps again but it's like 70 chapters and i don't have that kind of time
