Thing I'm now curious about because the JJBA rewatch with IRL Friend got to Vento Aureo- I was curious about precisely how long it takes Sorbet and Gelato to go from Gay to Buried (their only two character traits) and wound up with an average number of 2 minutes and 16 seconds for the both of them. Now I'm curious about if there's any characters who go from Gay to Buried faster than Gelato (1 minute, 28 seconds).

(eliminating posthumous reveals of Gay because where's the fun in that?)

i know i love nijocest but there's also the underrated humor (if you're a sick motherfucker) of shu/haruka. "my boyfriend, who is a middle schooler and also my boss, is trying to get me to bang my abusive brother because he thinks it will tank my mental health and therefore make me make better music." fucking shrimp colors levels of toxicity. i love it.

I read a fanfic based around transplanting some Vtubers to the Titanic and having them do yaoi and then die and quite liked it. As opposed to most fanfics based around historic tragedies, which I find to be rather tasteless, I don't find fics centered around the Titanic to be in poor taste. If one would ask me, I'd mostly crack this reaction up to how long ago the tragedy took place- every survivor is now dead, and most of their direct family, as well.

Later, I watched that Fascinating Horror video on the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, and because this is where my brain goes, I thought; Hmm, if someone wrote fanfic set during the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, I'd find that pretty tasteless. And I'm trying to find out why my reactions are so different.

It can't be because of distance from the event, because both of these tragedies took place within a couple years of each other. And it can't be the "English-speaking person writing about another country's tragedies" response, because both of these tragedies were, by and large, Anglosphere tragedies.

Perhaps it's overexposure? I've known about the Titanic film from a very young age, and as such the idea of "Titanic love story" is sort of in the foundation of my brain and my thinking and therefore I may think of the idea of "Titanic love story" as being normal, but the idea of "Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire love story" as being not normal, and therefore activating the alarm bells in my head.

Any more ideas?

I'm of two minds of the "they should've just made Mikoto a homicidal sleepwalker" discourse because on one hand I'm like "Oh, so we go from stigmatizing one brainweird to stigmatizing another kind of brainweird, is that really better?"

But then I'm like "Hang on, there really isn't the same kind of stigma around sleepwalking as there is plurality. It's kind of like that thing where this author gets offended at ASPD killers but can just laugh off the whole 'i kill people because prosopagnosia' thing that 999 did, isn't it?"

And then I'm like "I don't really know the state of media representation for sleepwalkers? Maybe homicidal sleepwalking is a bigger media Thing than i'm aware of so it might not be 'i killed people b/c prosopagnosia' and more 'i kill people because aspd'????"

(mimi, kicking her way into the passenger's seat: BUT NOBODY SAID SHIT ABOUT HARUKA THE DD/ID KILLER, THOUGH???!?)

(me: oh shit you right.)

now that i think about it, it makes sense that so many of the really virulent ableists in fe3h fandom love edelgard and hate dimitri. edelgard's ptsd is so watered down in order to preserve the nonthreatening waifu vibe she has going on for her. her "fear" of rats is treated as a cute moe quirk rather than a legit ptsd trigger and it's all downplayed just enough so that she isn't weird or scary or threatening while her fans can go bang on about how good representation she is

but dimtri

dimitri doesn't have studio mandate to make him into a waifu so he actually gets to be an interesting character, and he is! but he's also more Blatantly Crazy than edelgard. he talks to dead people. he hates himself to deeply unnerving degrees. he's mean and angry and bitter and doesn't have good hygiene and he pushes away all of his loved ones and he's unnerving and scary and offputting and i know this because he freaks a load of people out and that's why they scream on twitter about how he's the epitome of an abusive man or how killing him would be an act of community service

while they bang on about how edelgard is "good rep" because she's much more inherently likable and dimitri is "bad rep" because he freaks them out and they think that they're being Good and Woke when actually they only like mentally ill people with pretty, palatable symptoms.

Ranking my schools for their treatment of my migraines:

Elementary school: Got to lie down in the nurse's office, which was right next to the office and had lots of people going in and out. Also, fluorescent lights that I got yelled at for trying to turn off. Could only lay there for three hours at a time (my migraines usually last from six to eight hours), so I'd get sent back to class after three hours. "Massive, visually distorting migraines" apparently wasn't on the list for reasons why a kid could be sent home (it was only broken bones, vomiting, or fever), so after about two months of that Bullshit, my mom started teaching me how to make myself vomit. 0/10.

Middle school: Got an IEP in seventh grade, so I got to go to hide in the bathrooms if I thought I might be having a "panic attack" (meltdown). Also did this when I was having a migraine. Only a 5/10 because even though the lights were dim in the bathroom, it's still the stall of a bathroom in an American public school.

High school: Got to go lie down on the floor of the counselor's office when I had a migraine, which is marginally better than a bathroom stall, owing to the presence of carpet and lack of Loud People, but it's still the floor of someone's office. 6/10.

TLDR: All schools should have sensory rooms that any student can go to for any reason. And I do mean all schools. "Most people with migraines don't get them until puberty" my ass, I had my first migraine/sensory meltdown when I was in preschool.

There's honestly a part of me that wants to do a two-part Eichi character analysis, with part one being titled "How Do You Write Sing Like You're Running Out Of Time" and part two being titled "If You Want Something Done, You've Gotta Do It Yourself", with large amounts of snark throughout, specifically focusing on how the writers of Enstars made a big mistake by deciding to both base the vast majority of Eichi's character off of a complex that is specifically related to him being chronically ill and then deciding to downplay that chronic illness by writing the illness to be as non-disruptive to the plot as possible, resulting in a character that on first glance seems incoherently written and evil for the sake of evil, which in turn results in-

Oh, I was writing out the outline for a character backstory and it turned out super duper angsty by accident.

And also weirdly child-groom-y. Strange.

Muse: I'm trans!

Me: This is very fascinating information. I don't know why the hell you decided to tell me this, seeing as your genital configuration or childhood will never come up in the story, but it's interesting information.

Fandom-as-activism people are honestly such a trip. I just saw a Tumblr post that said that you couldn't call yourself an anti-capitalist if you read sugar daddy AUs.

I've been seeing the idea around Tumblr that at least in the USAmerican system, "gifted child" is basically a euphemism for "neurodivergent child who's neurodivergence isn't severe enough to justify putting them in special ed, but they can't function in a normal classroom environment".

This reminds me of a pamphlet I found on my mom's desk in elementary school, Signs of A Gifted Child or something like that, and one of the "signs" was an increased sensitivity to certain stimuli.

There are two kinds of otome games:

> The kind where it seems like they have a gay option but it's actually a crossdressing guy

> The kind where it seems like they have a gay option but it's only a gal pal route

Fushigi Yuugi: Is a story about a bland Chosen One being teleported to a fantasy world and traveling across the land with a harem of attractive members of the opposite sex who have superpowers and are all into said Chosen One.

I was just looking up the stars in Taurus for my VKY January fill and, an hour later, I somehow wound up at the article for the Book of Revelations.
