I know that it's technically "wrong" and a "misconception", but the old-school "bisexuality ultimately comes from someone being both mentally male and female" is closer to the way I experience my sexualigender than most ways that people nowadays talk about bisexuality.

opinion i sort of hold; the only thing i've encountered that actually managed to pull off "so offensive it wraps back around to being funny" is vamp's mgs2 codec call.

of course, i could just hold this opinion because i first encountered this when i was thirteen and had a much worse sense of humor.

Love the linguistic niche that “egg” as a piece of slang fills as a differentiation from “closeted”. It’s a shame that the word basically only applies to transness, seeing as how other kinds of queerness also benefit from a semantic distinction between hiding that you are X and not knowing that you are X.

pretty sure, now that i think about it, my gender might just be "cat".

new vogue children is good because it threads that line of at once being very edgy and melodramatic in the style typical of vkei stuff but on the other hand it is also very compassionate and loving, i feel, and that contrast is good and it blends together so well to create a very wonderfully queer song. also it has a line about cannibalizing all the straight people.

Trying to explain why I don't like certain kinds of Supernaturally Validated Trans Person stories. Stick with me here.

Okay, so the ones that I do like, or at least I'm okay with, are the ones that star trans people who already know they're trans, like, I think the SVTP moments in School Mermaid/Magical Girl Site were fine (and the one in magical girl site was pretty subtle) and there was one Furuba fic that I really liked with trans girl Ritsu that basically centered around a SVTP moment, but anyway, I'm getting off track.

The ones that I don't like are ones where the Supernaturally Validated Trans Person doesn't know that they're trans and it's the Supernatural Validator, like, reading their soul and telling them "you are A Girl". That just freaks me out.

desperately trying to explain that while transfem!cherry would be a trans lady who is a programmer that she would not be a Trans Lady Programmer and that there are Nuances Here that you just aren't getting, You Cisgender On Discord

opinion of uncertain temperature, but:

"OF COURSE trans women are women, but we really should be worried about all of these gender-non-conforming men wearing skirts to trick women into thinking they're safe to be around" and "OF COURSE gay trans men are valid, but aren't those creepy fujoshi obsessed with gay porn and M/M relationships who say shit like 'i wish i was a gay man' gross?"

are fundamentally the same take.

i hate it when people are like "we allow all fic in our community, just not transphobic fic" or "oh, it's not okay to harass/censor people, except when their art is transphobic" like

below the cut is a list of everything that i have heard Some Fucko On Teh Interwebs say is transphobic to write, most of these being "backed up" by bans/harassment campaigns:

so when I hear "we're banning transphobic submissions or "fandom has a transphobia problem" i have to do this fucking *insert gif of equations flying around* to figure out WHAT THE FUCK YOU MEAN and if this place is a safe space for me because no one is willing to just WRITE OUT WHAT THEY'RE BANNING from their event/discord server/kink meme

how utterly pompous do you have to be to look at someone's art or memes and go "yes, i am going to decide, from this small example that i, the alpha and the omega of all things transgender, know your exact Gender Situation, and therefore, i will treat you accordingly"

like i'm not in the practice of saying out loud or commenting "ooh a cis/trans/XYZ person wrote this" but i do THINK it and i'm wrong! a lot of the time! whether it be assuming people's AGAB or assuming they're cis when they're actually trans or that they're trans when they're actually cis and i just. can not. imagine doing this FREQUENTLY and getting it wrong ALL THE FUCKING TIME (because these people are running off of "if it makes me feel uncomfy than whoever made it must be cis") and STILL thinking they're right and correct and SHOULD be doing this it's so confusing to me

something i learned from taking a wrong turn on twitter and spending the past week and a half engrossed in Exclus Disc Horse 2: Electric Boogaloo is that a lot of this boils down to just one thing.

Nonbinary people existing makes sexuality REALLY FUCKING COMPLICATED (well, more complicated then it was before lol) and a lot of people just kind of want us to go away or stop talking about the complexity so that they can bash us into the mold they're used to

just realized that love gene xx and omega/omega pairings both have the same appeal for me. "what if this cute boy, who is a lesbian, kissed this other cute boy, who is also a lesbian".
stardust_rifle: A cartoon-style image of of a fluffy brown cat sitting upright and reading a book, overlayed over a sparkly purple circle. (Default)
my sort-of-omegaverse-headcanon is that in omegaverse land, queerness sort of exists on three separate axes. there's the "what gender(s) are you attracted to" and "what gender(s) are you" axes that exist in our world, but there's also the third axis of "what's your sexual orientation (in terms of dom/sub/switch)"

this means that i can not only write characters who are queer, i can write characters who are queer in ways that literally don't exist in this world, which is Very Inch Resting.

me: "hm, i've been thinking about kaneki's relationship to gender because it's very interesting both in the 'this is super fun to analyze and pick apart from a queer theory lens' and in the 'this is Super Mega Id Candy for my horny genderqueer ass' way, and i just sort of realized that 'kaneki is intersex' is like. Barely a headcanon. i wonder if anyone's talking about this!"

people on the internet: *discuss this whole barely-a-headcanon in perhaps the most binarist way i've ever seen anyone discuss a headcanon*

me: *recoils in OHGODWHATTHEFUCK*
