Okay, so here's an elevator pitch for a new BL comic idea:
The protagonist is a relatively normal prettyboy, working a perfectly normal job and living a perfectly normal life. He's a bit snarkier than all of his coworkers and family and isn't on very good terms with the latter. He's probably got light hair, usually blonde, but sometimes a very light brown.
One day, he meets his love interest, who is some type of supernatural being, usually a very powerful one, most likely the ruler or heir of some supernatural domain. He's got long hair and wears flowing robes. He's not usually super "monster boy" looking- his inhuman traits are restricted to an unusual hair or eye color, maybe pointed ears. He's both insanely powerful and devoted to his love interest, as well as being what the kids call "whipped" and kind of an idiot when it comes to the human world. Much comedy is drawn from the contrast between those two traits.
The dynamic between the two leads is driven largely by the love interest's extreme, melodramatic affection for the hero and the hero reacting like a normal human being to proclamations of "I HAVE CHOSEN YOU TO BE MY BRIDE, FOR WE ARE DESTINED LOVERS, AND I SHALL MARK YOU WITH A SUPERNATURAL BRAND, MY BELOVED!". Eventually, it's revealed that the hero and the love interest have some sort of tragic past, usually involving reincarnation, and they have to fight as forces both supernatural and human try to tear them apart.
Seems like a relatively specific description, right?
Well, this is the premise of 6 BL COMICS, BOTH JAPANESE, CHINESE, AND WESTERN, THAT I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING FOR A WHILE.
