Being in Persona 5 fandom makes the double standard with how fandom treats autistic-coded characters so fucking apparent, guys.
So, okay. There are two characters in the main party who share the distinction of being "autistic-coded", Yusuke and Futaba.
In the discourse, the prevailing opinion is that writing Yusuke as aspec is ableist towards autistic people, as it plays into the stereotype of autistic people being desexualized.
So you'd think that people would be okay with any kind of depiction of Futaba:
> Being explicitly non-straight
> Having sex
> Being in a romantic relationship
> Expressing romantic feelings towards anyone
But NOPE!
If you do all that, you get accused of FETISHIZING DISABLED WOMEN and BEING A PEDOPHILE!
So, of course, headcanoning her as aroace would be the only solution, but...
It's a neverending cycle of screaming Tumblrites appropriating the language of social justice to defend their preferred ships.
(And then of course, we get the people screaming about how There Can Only Be One Autistic Person Here, and then fighting over who the "real autistic" is, and it's stupid, it's so fucking stupid, guys.)
