album: god given
Musically it was a little hard on my ears due to my sensitivities but other than that, I loved it. It's an incredibly honest journey through the emotions she experienced and the friends she lost during her transition. It's raw and unapologetically angry. It's about intercommunity grief and yearning, reclaiming love, and learning what peace can look like. If I have to pick one track, the ending track really brought me to tears: Transgender Space Theme. It felt like a warm, solid hug.
Go give it a listen and drop $9 if you like it <3
King Princess
album: Girl Violence
I missed her latest release last year and caught up last month. It's by far my favorite of her albums. I've added it to my list of cds I need to buy this year. Her songs range from dreamy to in your face and are packed with personal stories that made me ache at times.
Why does nobody mention
that girls can be violent
is just an incredible thesis for the whole album. It gave me understanding of situations I haven't lived and catharsis for the ones I did.
