When it comes to Megumi (from Shiki), I never really got the hate for her. She wasn't uniquely evil, and her death wasn't the only thing that made her tragic, it was the capstone. Sure, she was kind of shitty, but her shittiness wasn't unique. She was a teenage girl completely convinced of her own specialness and superiority to everyone around her, obsessively in love with a guy who has obviously demonstrated that He's Not Interested, and too wrapped up in her own bullshit to ever consider anyone else! These aren't unique flaws, I'd say that most teenagers have at least some of those flaws, but the thing is, most of them grow out of them! megumi had her flaws used to lure her into becoming a vampire, which functionally arrested her development and removed any motivation to grow out of her flaws!!! and then she dies, having never learned anything because she wasn't given the opportunity to!!!

i know she sucks and THAT'S THE ENTIRE POINT!!!
