i do actually think that diabolik lovers was very based for making 3 of their Dark Fuck Prince Urban Fantasy Vampire Boyfriends survivors of sexual abuse. that was a very good decision on the writers' parts.

2010s tumblr dialovers fandom was full of rape apologists, it's just that the rape they were apologizing for wasn't(AFAIK) in the anime so most of the armchair critics didn't care or know enough to criticize THAT little bit of the fandom

Shu's probably some type of Kinsey 5-6 guy! yes, Kou's got some weird gender shit going on and Laito's fucked dudes and Yui's a repressed bi) but like the way the fandom engages with them is so boring and boilerplate and AAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGG that I can't even engage with a lot of it
