came up with something i like to call pascal's yaoi* wager. functionally, it predicts that the best thing to do, when confronted with the possibility of yaoi in a thing not expressly marked as yaoi as a yaoi enjoyer, is to keep your hopes and dreams as low as humanly possible for it to actually happen. i shall lay out the possibilities here.

you hope/predict/strongly desire yaoi to occur and yaoi occurs: great! you will be happy! positive outcome

you hope/predict/strongly desire yaoi to occur and yaoi does not occur: you will be horribly disappointed. negative outcome

you have no expectations for yaoi and yaoi occurs: great! you may even experience the positive feelings of being pleasantly surprised! positive outcome

you have no expectations for yaoi and yaoi does not occur: neutral outcome

therefore the most rational belief is to never expect yaoi to occur in things not marked as yaoi. i rest my case.
