stardust_rifleSo, originally, I just passed off the "NB means non-black, so all nonbinary people who aren't black are just appropriating" as yet more Uninformed Tumblr Bullshit. Like. My friend. The English alphabet has 26 letters, so statistically, there would be overlap between the nigh-infinite number of acronyms we've created for our purposes.
Like, "RPG" can mean either "Rocket Propelled Grenade" or "Role-Playing Game". "CBT" can be either "Cognitive Behavioral Therapy" or "Cock-and-Ball Torture".
This isn't rocket science.
Then I started thinking.
Remember the last time people on Tumblr started claiming that the terminology of one minority group (one which is primarily hated by exclusionists) was actually an appropriation of another minority group's terminology (one which exclusionists at least PRETEND to be down with)?
It was the fucking "aspec means autism spectrum, so all the aces and aros who are using it to mean 'asexual and/or aromantic spectrum' are appropriating!" discourse.
Which makes me pretty fucking suspicious of this whole discourse to begin with.
