Nov. 26th, 2022 03:40 pmI can not, for the life of me, understand the POV of Ao3 authors who throw tantrums about not being able to stop people from downloading their work, or attempt to FORBID people from downloading their work by throwing hissy temper tantrums about it.
Like, for me, as an author, my response to "someone downloaded my fic" is "Wow! This person loved my fic SO MUCH that they wanted to keep a little copy of it on their puter/phone! They wanted a copy of their own in their collection! That's SO COOL!"
(this argument also applies to artists who get mad at people downloading their work and just putting it on their computers, but also i don't post much of my art on the internet so i don't have a horse in this race)
