i am focusing on transphobia for the purposes of this rant

i hate it when people are like "we allow all fic in our community, just not transphobic fic" or "oh, it's not okay to harass/censor people, except when their art is transphobic" like

below the cut is a list of everything that i have heard Some Fucko On Teh Interwebs say is transphobic to write, most of these being "backed up" by bans/harassment campaigns:


> omegaverse
> genderbends
> trans men having PIV sex
> trans men bottoming
> trans people having sex with cis people
> trans people using terms that "correspond" to their AGAB when referring to their genitals
> pre-op trans people having sex at all
> effeminate trans men
> FtM genderbends, specifically
> fiction told from the perspective of a bigot
> trans people having weird kinks
> trans people being forcibly outed
> porn about trans people, when written by cis people
> trans people, when written at all by cis people
> trans people being raped
> writing a character as binary trans (the gender that they aren't in canon) (for example writing a canon girl as a trans dude)
> NOT writing certain characters as trans
> cuntboys/futanari
> male pregnancy EXCEPT when the character is trans
> trans men getting pregnant
> trans people doing morally dubious things
> writing about trans characters who aren't your AGAB
> making people trans in RPF when they aren't IRL (that we know of)


so when I hear "we're banning transphobic submissions or "fandom has a transphobia problem" i have to do this fucking *insert gif of equations flying around* to figure out WHAT THE FUCK YOU MEAN and if this place is a safe space for me because no one is willing to just WRITE OUT WHAT THEY'RE BANNING from their event/discord server/kink meme

I have a friend who is a busty trans man who writes and draws busty trans man; naturally, he gets called transphobic for it. Apparently "own voices" doesn't actually matter!

Because either they go "well there are some things you just can't write even if you are #ownvoices", or they go "y'all hear sommn" or, in the most, ironically, I feel, "honest", they straight up accuse you of lying about being trans.

And this is why AO3 went with the censor nothing approach.
