this has happened in every shonen fandom i've been in. no/yay akatsuki. no/yay arrancar. no/yay sapient cursed spirits. no/yay twelve kizuki.

god if that isnt the hugest vibe. every time i watch hxh i go "this time i'll watch it through" and then the second the phantom troupe doesn't have at least one member in the arc i just skip ahead until they show up
