finally finished the scara interlude chapter (don’t look at me i’ve been busy), some thoughts
spoilers below the cut
> the story beat of scara trying to erase himself from existence hit in a really specific way for me. like yes, i do genuinely believe that if i erased myself from reality entirely in the same way than yes, everyone in my life would be much better off if i never existed (two words; hospital bills) but the message i got was that yeah, even if a lot of people would be much better off (a word which here means “alive”) if scara never existed, it is still bad that he effectively tried to kill himself is uh..bad! it’s bad, and the hero tries to give him back his memories and his life. idk maybe i’m projecting too many of my own issues onto this
> wound up going with “rin” for the wanderer’s name. thought about “meowmeow” but ultimately decided that it would ruin the dramatic tension.
> i’ve also decided to interpret the “you can’t completely erase yourself from irminsul” as being a failsafe intended to avoid Grandfather Paradox level-fuckery and the resulting reality crash that might ensue. nobody tell me if this is canon i like feeling smart.
