anyone else terrified to make a 3am bitchpost about some kind of fandom-based microaggression that pissed them off out of fear that some deeply deranged Internet Person is going to use it as an excuse to start a harassment campaign against some poor bastard, who yeah, sure, you may have wanted them to shut up and go away so you wouldn't have to see them anymore but you didn't want them to be harassed

You're not, like, I don't post a lot of my fandom salt anywhere because while I think people that bother following me are nice, I also know it takes just one belligerent asshole to screencap me out of context to either attack me or use me as a prop to attack someone else. Like, no amount of trusting that my circle is reasonable protects me -- my posts are public, and people that I would not associate with due to "sends death threats and harassment" reasons will still see them.

Basically, I've never recovered from the shock of finding out that half of my followers were antis in plain sight, and someone I considered a friend uncritically swallowed a harassment campaign out to pedojacket an artist we both liked just b/c she'd gone gotten personally invested in their art.
