wild how much "just ban Thing I Don't Like from ao3" comes up as a solution for how to deal with Things People Don't Like on ao3 given that its efficacy can be pretty effectively challenged by, say, anyone who ever used fanfiction dot net after 2002

If these people hate certain parts of Ao3 so much, they can literally just make their own archive and ban whatever they despise there. OTW's code is literally free to download and use how you please. But that would require work and dedication, and these people are far too entitled to put effort into anything other than yelling.

I don't think they even want an archive without "gross" stuff. I think they want that stuff completely purged off the web (and out of people's brains I guess). Hence why even though FF.net and other archives exist, they still go after AO3.
