Love the linguistic niche that “egg” as a piece of slang fills as a differentiation from “closeted”. It’s a shame that the word basically only applies to transness, seeing as how other kinds of queerness also benefit from a semantic distinction between hiding that you are X and not knowing that you are X.

fully agreed. ive seen people say "closeted even to myself" but that also implies willful denial, rather than, like... just plain not knowing or not putting the pieces together the way egg does.
