Decided to start learning Japanese. I’m using Renshuu + Anki flashcards + internet browsing in Japanese as my general game plan. I’m aware the road is littered with the corpses of those who did not make it, and I have no pretensions that I’m any different, but I can try! Strive! Attempt! Push forward! I love BL just as much as Jesuit priests in the 16th century loved Jesus and if they could do it so can I!

I've never seen Jesuit priests and BL in the same sentence before, but now that I think about it, someone has definitely made that.

Just now I was doing my flashcards and I remembered this post. One, I randomly felt like a jerk for not wishing you luck or anything when I saw it, and two, I remembered I made this post. You're pretty much doing everything right, but I thought maybe maybe maybeee my post would still have something nice for you. (Really, people used to come to me for advice on this topic a lot, so I figured I should share this post whenever relevant even when I'm not specifically being asked for help.)

Social media immersion seems to be working- I think the key is that I actually want to know what cutsey nicknames Jojo characters would call you if you were dating or whatever's in that Twitter post. My main problem is just that it kind of feels like I'm banging my head against a wall.

Best of luck to you! I got interested in German when I got into German-language musicals 11 years ago and I just signed up for a B2 course after getting my B1 certificate. It's great to have a motivation to learn a language!
